Our own Glenmore Reservoir Dogs took two wins over ranked MRDA teams on the weekend! October 5th saw them play Uinta Madness Roller Derby from Salt Lake City (ranked MRDA #31) for a 236 to 203 victory. It was a fast paced game with lead changes throughout the event! br> br>
Then on Sunday October 5th they took on Boise’s own Capital City Skull Crushers (ranked MRDA #22) for an awesome win of 237 to 140. This places the team hopefully in the middle of the pack when it comes to ranking in MRDA when they are accepted. br> br>
Congratulations Glenmore Reservoir Dogs on the awesome wins and thanks go to both Uinta Madness and CCSC for the incredible derby you played. GOOO DOGS! br>
We have an upcoming bout on August 10th where your Jills will finally take on the wonderful ladies of the Revelstoke Derailers (the game in Revelstoke had been cancelled due to the flooding in Alberta – the Jills are ecstatic to play host this time around!) and the Dogs will host the River City Riot!
We are looking for volunteers to help make this event awesome! Volunteers are needing in many areas: set-up/tear-down, front door, merch, beer gardens, etc. So if you are interested in seeing some fabulous roller derby (FOR FREE!) and helping out the league for a couple hours, please sign up here!
Not only will you get to watch some sweet derby, but you will get our undying love!
We are pleased to announce that we have secured another practice location. Our new practices are at Genesis Centre at 7556 Falconridge Blvd NE.
Times are also posted on the calendar on the league website (please check for holiday changes). The new schedule is as follows:
July – September:
Jills: Mondays 7:30-9:30pm
Dogs: Saturdays 10am-12pm
Fresh Meat: Fridays 7:30-9:30pm starting July 12
League: Sundays 10am-1pm
PLEASE NOTE: For this week ONLY, Dogs practice will be held on Friday night and there will be NO FRESH MEAT PRACTICE due to our double-header on Saturday. Fresh Meat are welcome to come and skate at league practice on Sunday instead.
And be sure to come out to Acadia Rec Centre (240 – 90 Avenue SE)on Saturday, July 6th for our double-header event. The Kill Jills will be taking on Bow Valley’s Lady Macs followed up by a co-ed invitational extravaganza! We will also be raising money for the YWCA as they were our home for a very long time and were devastated by the recent flood. So come out, have some fun, and “Keep Calm And Derby On!”
