Thank you to everyone who came out for our Roller Derby Info Night on January 23rd! We had an AMAZING turnout!  Everyone had a fanastically fun time.  Can’t wait to see many of you at Fresh Meat!

Just a reminder to current league members, our Annual General Meeting will be happening on February 8th at 6:00 pm at the Penbrooke Community Centre (6100 Penbrooke Drive SE).    All league members should attend the AGM, as we need to have a majority of league members present in order to make decisions. We will also be electing our new Board of Directors.   Please check your inbox for details and deadlines about nominations.

After we take care of all of the business at the AGM, we will be cutting loose and celebrating with a year end party!  It will begin around 8 pm. The whole event is open to all league members, adults and juniors alike. Partners are also welcome.

Dinner will be provided by our very own, Cray Del Robber. The tickets for dinner will be $15 per person. Please make sure your RSVP before February 1st so we can have accurate numbers for catering.  You do not have to buy a ticket to attend the AGM, but you do need one to eat at the party!

Lastly, we will be conducting an awards ceremony to recognize some of the amazing achievements within the league.  Once again, please check your inbox for details and deadlines about award nominations.

We’re really looking forward to everyone getting together and celebrating our league anniversary and accomplishments!

Roller Derby Info Night: Chinook City Wants You!

It’s a new year – are you looking for a new challenge? Get involved in the growing phenomenon of roller derby! On January 22nd at 7:00pm, Chinook City will be offering an on-skates info night at Lloyd’s Recreation! This info night will give you a taste of what this sport is all about: fun, fitness, and friendship. Don’t have roller skates? That’s okay! You can borrow a pair for the evening.

Chinook City skaters will provide a short derby demonstration, and then will be on hand to teach the basics of roller skating and answer questions about derby. Get tips and learn tricks from members of the Kill Jills, the Glenmore Reservoir Dogs, the Natural Born Thrillers and the Youthanizers. Then hang out, skate to some sweet tunes, and watch roller derby bouts on the big screen tv. It’s going to be a blast.

No experience necessary, and all fitness levels, ages, and genders are welcome. Our league includes men’s, women’s, co-ed, and junior derby – it’s really a sport for everyone.

Give roller derby a shot. We double dog dare you!
